Water filters in Sebeta, Ethiopia provide clean water for children

Clean Water For Kids, Families & Communities

There are small towns surrounding Addis that are still getting their water from local rivers and water ways, with no way to clean the bacteria out of it before eating and drinking. This has caused much illness. We are working with our friend Abraham to have biosand water filters built to help stave off the illness and provide lifesaving clean water. Abraham is currently working in a village outside of Addis called Sebeta. He has already built and installed 70 filters, is on target to install another 25 or so, and has a goal to install 150 over the next year. Each family is followed by a nurse and social worker to access the compliance and use of the filters as well as to track the improvement of the families receiving filters.

We have decided to match last years goal of 25 for the year of 2016. Will you help? This is a great project for a Sunday school class, small group, Bunco group, classroom or as a gift for that hard to buy for person. Our Habesha Momma team was able to travel in Sept 2015 and complete the installation of the 25 sponsored by HM supporters!! We cannot thank you enough. Check out the photos below to see the process. If you would like to provide clean water for a family… or 2 or 3 … donate…

We rely fully on funding from individuals, foundations and corporations so your donation is priceless. 100% of your water filter donation goes to each filter. Our partnerships are with Ethiopians working to make a difference in the lives of their own people, and mostly volunteer their own time. We have had volunteers from all over the world fly over to Ethiopia (using their own money) and work with the locals to help themselves.
